The studio

Poppy Rose is an interior designer working with antiques, natural materials and old buildings. Her approach is slow and sensory: rooms built around honest textures, worn wood, lime, linen and stone, and objects with a story to tell.

She lives in, and is painstakingly conserving, an abandoned Victorian water tower, sharing the restoration with more than 200,000 people online.

Interior design & sourcing

Poppy takes on a small number of residential projects, from single rooms to whole houses, alongside consultations and antique sourcing.

  • Full interior designConcept to completion for homes and historic buildings: layouts, materials, palette, furniture and finishing.
  • Design consultationA focused session in person or online to set the direction for a room, a renovation or a whole house.
  • Antique sourcingFinding the right antique and vintage pieces, lighting and natural materials for your space.
The water tower

Built in 1884 to supply water to a Victorian asylum, this Grade II-listed, 85ft tower had stood empty for decades when Poppy took it on in 2018. It is being transformed into a seven-storey family home, slowly and sensitively, using salvaged and reclaimed materials. Follow along for the progress, the finds and the lessons learned.
